THE IONA SERVICE OF PRAYERS FOR HEALING AND WHOLENESS
This service of prayer was developed by the Iona Community of Scotland in the conviction that we are all broken people in need of healing. Gathered in a circle around the cross, we pray first for the world, then lift to God the names of people for whom prayer has been requested. Finally we kneel around the cross, a few at a time, and those who wish gather behind to lay their hands on those kneeling as all join in a prayer to the Holy Spirit (those unable to kneel may remain seated). With song, silence, and holy touch we present ourselves and those for whom we pray to be healed “of all that harms us.”
The gentle service is appropriate for all ages. It is an ideal opportunity for children and youth to be part of a circle of caring that honors their own needs as well others’. Come to one service, many, or all. Led by Jo Ann Staebler.
Meets in the Chapel. New dates and time to be announced soon. Email BPC if you would like to be alerted.
