QUIET DAYS
Prayer, Meditation and Fasting
Take time in each season to set aside routines, commitments, and distractions and rest in God. Quiet days provide relaxation and prayer, meditation on scripture, time for silence, and optional sharing. The monastery setting offers a labyrinth, outdoor Stations of the Cross (materials are available for adaptation to other faith traditions), woodland walks, and quiet indoor and outdoor spaces. Please bring a journal.
ADVENT
Wednesday, November 28, 2007, 10:00 am-2:00 pm
Registration is requested by November 21--after that, please call for space availability.
Led by Martha Thomas.
Enjoy a respite from activities that bury “the reason for the season.” Take time to breathe deeply and rest with God. We’ll look at the role of angels in Jesus’ birth and in our lives, meditate on scripture, and prepare for the One who comes.
LENT
Thursday, February 28, 2008, 10:00 am-2:00 pm
Registration is requested by February 21--after that, please call for space availability.
Led by Jo Ann Staebler.
Fast for a few hours from all the “must do’s” that get in the way of our desire to come to God. As winter drags on and we long for spring, we’re called to come away, to wait, to be still. We’ll explore the dark depths of our hearts as we wait for the dawn.
EASTER / PENTECOST
Tuesday, April 29, 2008, 10:00 am-2:00 pm
Registration is requested by April 22--after that, please call for space availability.
Led by Phil Stone.
Jesus said (John 11:25): "I am the Resurrection and I am Life: those who believe in me will live, even if they die; and those who are alive and believe in me will never die." What does the message of the resurrection mean to you? How does it influence your spiritual journey?
SUMMER’S END
Saturday, August 16, 2008, 9:00 am-3:00 pm
Registration is requested by August 9--after that, please call for space availability.
Led by Beth Hampton.
Come away for quiet reflection, meditation and centering in preparation for the busyness of the fall season. Commune with nature, walk the labyrinth, make a pilgrimage through the Stations of the Cross, journal, relax, pray and "Be Still and Know."
At each session, a spiritual director will be available for those led to seek a listening companion.
Tuition, per session, payable in advance: $30.00 (includes beverages). Those for whom fasting is a problem are welcome to bring a bag lunch.
Registrations submitted jointly by three (3) or more participants for the same session will qualify for a 10% group discount.
